Protein prep pro tip: Use dinner as protein prep time. Bottom right: Pot Roast is spectacular in a crockpot…and so easy!.In the winter, these are quick and easy to cook in the oven or on the stove. Pull the tails off (if you want to), stick ‘em on some skewers, top with some seasoning (cajun is my fav) and go. Bottom left: Raw shrimp is perfect for summer grilling and it is easy to prep since it is already deveined.Top middle + top right: Carne Asada and Pollo Asado are my go-tos for grilling or throwing in the oven (when it is too cold in VT to start the grill!).If you’re working with higher fat macros, you don’t have to go quite so lean here. Top left: 96% lean ground beef is delish in rice/veggie dishes, made into burgers or thrown over some spaghetti squash. Here are some of my favorites… Raw Protein from Trader Joe’s Luckily, Trader Joe’s has tons of quick, easy and healthy protein options (both raw and cooked). If you’re newer to counting macros, prepping protein needs to be the main focus of your meal prep. If you’re a macro-tracking pro, you know that the key to eating enough protein is having enough of it cooked and ready to go. Let’s do it! (Pin it to save this article for later!) Macro Friendly Trader Joe’s Protein I’m going to break it down into different categories that will help you along with your macro counting/health journey: Today, I wanna share some of my macro-friendly Trader Joe’s staples and the meals I use them for. When this tweet was going around, six separate people sent it to me on Instagram (I haven’t quite made my way over to Twitter yet) asking if I was triggered and my answer was a resounding “nope, not even a little triggered” cause that is totally me. Moral of the story: I love it at Trader Joe’s. This is one of the things I find myself reminding my clients most often and I want you to remember through your nutrition journey: keep the healthy choice the easy choice. When you’re a) trying to make mostly healthy choices and b) have better things to do with your time than slave away in the kitchen, keeping the healthy choice the easy choice is key. Not only because the foods are delish, reasonably priced and there is always something new to try, but also because everything there is so darn easy to cook. I feel about them like I felt about Microsoft in the 90s. Why did I choose Amazon? If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you know I hate Amazon. In this blog post, I describe the whole process of self-editing my book in detail. I learned a lot, and it made me a better writer. That’s why I decided to self-edit the book myself.Įven though it took me a lot of time, and was definitely a challenging experience, it was worth it. However, when you are just starting, or if you are not a professional writer, spending 1500-5000€ to edit your book is not always reasonable. On the contrary, self-editing my own book showed me how demanding and time-consuming the edition phase can be. Professional editors charge a lot of money. Once you have written all sections of the book, it’s time to edit it. The fact that you can write the sections in any order you like will also help you write faster. That will make the process a lot more enjoyable. Don’t stop until you have dumped everything you wanted to cover in that section and are completely devoid of further ideas to develop it. Instead, try to switch off the rational and critical part of your brain, and just write. I’ve found out that when you stop to check what you are writing or correct a word or sentence, you lose the flow of your thoughts. Write as you would talk to a friend, in colloquial language. You will have time to edit the book later. Just write everything that comes to your mind. Don’t even check your grammar, syntax or style. Don’t censor yourself or try to write “beautifully”. When writing a section, focus completely on it and just let the words flow. You don’t even need to write them sequentially. It will work as a blueprint and allow you to work on one section at a time. When you finish this process, you will end up with a well-defined scheme of your book. I wrote a small comment under each section with a brief description or an enumeration of the topics to discuss. Then, for every chapter, I defined the structure using markdown headings like this: # Chapter 1 So I created a markdown file for every chapter, and called it “chapter 1”, “chapter 2”, etc. I really love the markdown syntax, because it allows me to focus on writing while defining the structure and format of the book easily. I wrote the book using iA Writer on my iPad Pro.
Todoist isn’t like a standard project management tool. You can add it as an extension to Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge, or even install the app on your Apple or Android watch to track tasks on the go. Todoist has robust apps for desktop (macOS, Windows and Linux) as well as mobile (Android, iPhone and iPad). If you have a Pro or a Business plan, you can set and modify reminders for any task. The due date, collaborations and priority of any active task can be modified at any time. Once the project gets completed, you can archive or delete it completely. For instance, if you have created sections such as Todo, Doing and Done for a project, move the tasks around as they progress. Todoist calls the columns on the board “sections.” You can change the name of a section and add as many tasks as you want to each section.Īs the project progresses, mark the tasks completed and archive them or move them within the different sections you have created. Once you have the project populated, you can view the tasks as a list or on a Kanban-style board. Each time you log in to Todoist, you’ll have your list of to-dos for the day, and they’ll show up in your inbox, too, unless you add them to a project. Since you can modify everything about a task later, you can try and test what works for you. You can set priorities, due dates, labels, filters and tags later, once you learn about them. There’s a super short walk-through of where to find your projects and your to-do list, and it points you to a more detailed “getting started” document if you need it. Immediately upon creating an account in Todoist, users can create their first project and start adding tasks to it. Additionally, the Business plan offers team inbox features, which can be useful for collaborating with a larger team. It includes 100MB of file uploads, unlimited activity history and automatic backups. It allows users to create up to 500 active projects, with 50 collaborators per project. The Business plan costs $6 per user per month (or $8 per user per month if billed monthly) and offers even more features. Themes and team inbox features are also included in the Pro plan. The Pro plan costs $4 per month (or $5 per month if billed monthly) and allows users to create up to 300 active projects, with 25 collaborators per project. Additionally, themes and team inbox features are not available in the free plan. The plan also includes 5MB of file uploads, one week of activity history and no auto backups. It allows users to create up to five active projects, with five collaborators per project. The Free plan is, as the name suggests, completely free. To do this, you’ll need a template, such as the one offered by YNAB. Users can set budgets for specific tasks or projects and track spending against those budgets to ensure they stay on track financially. By setting dependencies between tasks, users can ensure that they are completing tasks in the correct order and that they are not blocked by incomplete tasks. Dependenciesĭependencies are another critical feature of project management that Todoist supports, provided you use an integration such as Ganttify. Examples of integrations include PomoDone, Slack, Time Doctor, Timetrap, Zapier and Zendesk. These integrations can help streamline workflows and reduce the need to switch between different apps. Todoist also offers a wide range of software integrations, which allow users to connect the app with other tools and services they use for their work. This type of chart provides a timeline view of a project’s tasks and dependencies, so you can see how different tasks relate to one another and pivot as needed. Gantt charts are another popular project management feature that is available through an integration. This view makes it easy to see upcoming deadlines and adjust plans accordingly. TimelinesĪnother key feature of Todoist is timelines, though you’ll need to use an integration for it, which provides a visual representation of project progress over time. This helps ensure everyone knows what they’re responsible for and can work together efficiently. One of Todoist’s core features is its role assignment capabilities, which allow users to assign specific tasks to team members or collaborators. While some of its features are only available with integrations, the app still provides a variety of tools for managing tasks, lists and projects. Todoist is a simple project management tool that offers several core features to help users stay organized and on top of their workload. It's there to generate conflict in a movie that should be explosions. The movie works hard to set up some of these jokes when it doesn't need to. The whole thing seems to be a setup for a joke. Marcus has a come to Jesus subplot that just doesn't work. Marcus has a few good lines while Mike is just a bit too serious. While it's simple there were a few really funny parts. It really seems like character development was added after the fact. If the character development was more than just tacked on it might work better. This movie tries to layer the story with them being older, Marcus being a grandfather, and Mike dealing with his commitment issues, but I'm here for action and comedy. The problem with sequels is that they try to do the novel thing the first movie did again. This splits them up for a few minutes and while it creates a nice juxtaposition as we see them in a typical day it's a lot of time to invest for a simple joke. This franchise is ridiculous and I like that, but what I ant to see is the back and forth between Marcus and Mike. I suppose this isn't a Bad Boys movie unless someone is shooting horizontally while flying through the air. If you don't have one horizontal shooting scene is it still a Bad Boys movie? That's the same actor that was taking her on a date in Bad Boys II. Marcus's daughter gets married to Reggie. There are a number of ways to push the plot forward and that one is cheap drama. I knew the movie wasn't going to kill Will Smith fifteen minutes in. Mike gets shot early in the movie, and while it plays up the drama of whether he'll make it there's no tension. Lawrence is the driving force for the comedy with Smith playing serious. The jokes are rather predictable, but I really enjoyed the comedy when it landed. This really embraces jokes about them being older. I like that the movie addresses their age instead of playing up how young and strong they are. This movie hits you fast with exactly what it's about, and we even get a joke about Marcus needing glasses. There are numerous slow motion drifts, banter, and jokes. In the very first scene Mike and Marcus (Smith and Lawrence) are in a fast car chasing a suspect. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith play Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. With that said, if they weren't in it I wouldn't even have watched. If you were starting this movie from scratch you'd pick two top actors, not two guys who used to be a big box office draw. Smith and Lawrence are in this movie because they were in the previous films. There just isn't enough of that with the various sub-plots that complicate the movie.ĭid Bad Boys II need a sequel? My answer will almost always be 'No, a seventeen year old movie doesn't need a sequel.' The two original films are action movies with fast cars, big explosions, and for people with short attention spans. The core should be Smith and Lawrence having fun. I appreciate that it doesn't hide the fact the main characters are much older, but while the comedy is simple it doesn't always land. There isn't much story, and Bad Boys never had much in story, but this one didn't quite achieve the balance between action, comedy, and character development. There is a lot in this movie, characters, sub-plots, comedy, slow-motion shots, and explosions. It's an action movie sequel that we don't need. Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett must face off against a mother-and-son pair of drug lords who wreak vengeful havoc on their city. Starring: Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Paola Nuñez, Kate del Castillo, Joe Pantoliano Written by: Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan (story by), Chris Bremner and Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan (screenplay by), George Gallo (based on characters created by) Rent Bad Boys for Life on Amazon Video (paid link) They are fun, they introduce children to the basic patterns inherent within all stories: the sense of peril or conflict the restoring of the equilibrium at the end of the tale the patterning of three seen so clearly in the story (the bears, the porridge, the chairs, the beds) and the need for heroes and villains to make a compelling narrative. (Call of nature, perhaps? They are proverbially renowned for it…)īut then fairy tales aren’t known for their realism, or necessarily even for their moral lessons. One could take such an analysis further, and wonder why the bears have made porridge and then caused each of the servings somehow to manage to fall to different temperature levels or why, after they’ve gone to the trouble of making and serving up the food, they then choose that precise moment to go out. She’s lucky she doesn’t come a-cropper when the bears get home indeed, in some early versions, she only narrowly escapes being devoured by them – a high price to pay for a bowl of porridge. (Mind you, the insurance company would doubtless throw out any claim made by the bears for their broken chair: after all, they left their property unlocked.) She’s been allowed to wander off on her own (where are her parents, one wonders, and what happened to parental supervision?), and then when she finds a place that is very obviously and recognisably Someone Else’s House, she decides to walk right in and help herself to whatever she can find. Goldilocks is not a particularly pleasant child. But where does curiosity give way to downright rudeness? The Goldilocks story might nevertheless be viewed as a classic cautionary tale about the dangers of going off and exploring unknown places. Paul’s churchyard, which would make sitting down in any chair, whether yours or someone else’s, difficult for a good while after.) (By contrast, in an earlier version before the female intruder became Goldilocks, the old woman ends up impaled on a steeple in St. She’s a child and so, we are to infer, doesn’t really understand why her actions are wrong. The fact that in each case, it’s the hapless Baby Bear whose porridge is eaten, whose chair is broken, and whose bedsheets will have to go straight in the wash, aligns the child Goldilocks with the child of the ursine family unit. But then in most versions of the tale, Goldilocks gets a quick fright and nothing more: she undergoes no punishment or real peril, and there’s no sign at the end of the tale that she’s learned her lesson. But it’s hard to say what the moral is, exactly.Īt best, it’s implicit in the story: don’t go about nicking other people’s food or using their stuff, because if you take your eye off the ball they may find you out – and they might be big and fearsome and present a real danger to you. How should we analyse this curious little tale? It’s obviously great fun in that it contains adventure, a woodland jaunt gone wrong, and talking animals – a formula for success, if ever there was one, when it comes to children’s fairy tales. Several versions of the fairy tale published in the mid-nineteenth century altered the three bears into a family trio, yet somewhat confusingly, in the accompanying illustrations, the bears are all male and all the same size. The evolution of the three bears from Southey’s all-male trio into a family unit was not without its bumps and false starts, either. In George MacDonald’s ‘The Golden Key’ (1867), she appears as Silverhair.Īmazingly, given the vintage of the fairy tale, it wasn’t until 1904 that she became Goldilocks, when an English writer named Flora Annie Steel took the name from older (and very different) fairy tales and applied it to the youthful intruder in the Three Bears tale. In another, Golden-Hair, and yet another, Little Golden-Hair. Even after she had morphed from an old woman into a young girl, her name – and her hair colour – showed all the signs of fidgetiness evinced by the character herself in the story. She didn’t become ‘Goldilocks’ immediately. You can choose to fill out the date completely or use. If you're in the U.S., write it as month-date-year.
